Jay began his career as a musician and songwriter, studying Film Scoring and Guitar at Berklee College of Music before graduating top of his class in Music Production & Engineering from Full SailUniversity. His early work in Los Angeles included projects with Queen Latifah, The Rippingtons, LA Guns, and Warner Bros. animated series such as Animaniacs and Batman.
After returning to Florida, Jay co-founded Tabitha’s Secret with Rob Thomas (the band that evolved into Matchbox Twenty), co-writing the Billboard #1 hit “3am”, which sold over15 million copies and earned him multiple ASCAP POP Awards for Most Performed Song. His work has since been credited on more than 25 million record sales worldwide, including artists like Creed, Matchbox Twenty, Sevendust, and Rob Thomas.
Beyond the studio, Jay has contributed to the sound design of major attractions at Universal Studios, SixFlags, Walt Disney World, and Hard Rock Cafes worldwide, as well as forensic audio services for law enforcement. His accolades include RIAA Gold, Platinum, Multi-Platinum & Diamond awards, and a 2005 Webby Award for Best Use of Music & Sound.
Today, Jay leads J. Stanley Productions, a full-service Orlando-based studiospecializing in music production, mixing & mastering; sound design for film, TV, gaming & theme parks; ADR, Foley & voiceover recording; audio restoration & forensic audio; and 5.1 surround mixing on Pro Tools HD systems.
